I've been searching for a book that explores complex triggers of illness, physical, emotional and spiritual, and the role of shamanism in addressing them, given the milieu of spiritual alienation birthed and cultivated by western centric paradigms. Jez Hughes presents a beautiful tapestry of humanity and where and how that tapestry can be temporarily weakened but also healed. That healing is paradoxical, muti faceted, and breathtaking, that can begin with a wounded healer. He invites the reader to embark on just such a healing journey. Some Authors have easily succumbed to the ego-satisfying temptation of being an authority on these matters, often writing with such an authoritative, all knowing tone. He neither aspires to or recommends himself to this role through endorsements or forwards by illustrious persons. I plan to reread this book and will glean something new with each read.
