My brother recommended this book for me. I've read other books such as "Enzymes for Autism" by Karen DeFelice. Her work is more up-to-date and more targeted.Enzymes, the Fountain of Life is an older book, so the information is not the most up-to-date. However, it is written from the perspective of three medical doctors who have worked with enzymes. They give a very foundational overview so that someone who knows almost nothing about enzymes can understand the basics. By the end of the book, they are giving some powerful and advanced overviews of both research and treatment with enzymes.I had some difficulty understanding the title. However, by the time I reached the end of the book I was thinking that no other title would do. Anyone who reads this book will gain a good foundation in understanding what enzymes are and what they do. No life can exist without enzymes. That's why enzymes are the fountain of life. The insights of this book encouraged my brother to begin using enzymes to change his life and the lives of others around him.For those who value enzyme research and therapy, the book is worth reading for the story of Dr. Max Wolfe, the brilliant doctor who was a pioneer in enzyme research and treatment in the US. It's only 15 or 20 pages in one chapter, but it's quite a story. If it were a little less geeky it would make a great movie script; brilliant, but quirky, Austrian-Jewish artist turned medical doctor marries a diva from the Metropolitan Opera. She organizes his professional career but then brings it to a sudden, screeching halt when she runs an ad in the New York Times. He returns to Austria, where she eventually tracks him down and gets him to return to New York and rebuild his career.Well written, organized and easy to understand. I found so much clarity and understanding as I begin my healthy-lifestyle journey. Who new the greatness and power of enzymes.Seminal work on enzyme therapies written for layperson. Published 25 years ago. Just as relevant now. Used by myself to alleviate auto immune disorder. Separate issue was surgery adhesion....all resolved. Literally resolved. Bought this copy for a friend to treat her dog.I have read about five books on enzymes. Each has a different slant; some are more about autism, one is in large part about how many, how often and which enzymes to take. I wanted a book that was not so scientific that I couldn't understand it, but not so simplistic that it I didn't learn. This book is the only one I'm keeping. It's broad, complete, and understandable. My functional medicine practician recommends this book stating - enzymes will become known the way to health, just as probiotics was recognized as a way to better health.Great read snd and informativeThis would have been a 5-star rating, but I got bogged down at times with too much science. The authors say they geared this to both lay people and students with a scientific background and that's exactly what you get. Fortunately, I had first read Humbart Santillo's Food Enzymes: Missing Link to Radiant Health, a much more reader-friendly primer.Nevertheless, I do recommend this one if you're going to get serious about enzymes and want to delve deeper.A very indepth study of enzyme's and how they affect the body.Great little gem full of infoas expected
