I accidentally found a song by Kirinji "Sweet Soul" on internet radio after a trip to Japan. That is a wonderful and catchy song that has a nice yet simple accompanying video on Youtube. I decided to buy the CD through Amazon and, although I cannot understand the Japanese lyrics, I was floored by the range of melodic gems on here! This CD can be characterized as "Steely Dan meets Stereolab meets the Beatles" to me. One vocalist sounds like Emmitt Rhodes with a little Julian Lennon sprinkled in. Japanese is a beautiful language and the songs here have a soothing character. I have been to Japan twice, and my latest trip made me fall in love with a lot of their music. You will not be disappointed in this CD. This American is ready to try out some more of Kirinji's music!
