Poignant film about grief.I lost my mother when she was 56 and I was 29. And 29 seemed like an age of an adult… but how many 29 year olds are the one to decide when to pull the plug on a person’s life? Luckily, my mom was a nurse and an organized women. She knew this was coming and did everything she could to help her children help her pass with dignity.A few weeks after my mom moved on to the next journey the Oklahoma Bombing occurred. I sat and watched the news for the first time in weeks and thought, dear god, these folks just went to work and then we’re gone, riped out of their families lives in an instant. My mom had cancer. One that would not let her live passed 60. We didn’t get 60 but we had 7 years of knowing this was coming. 7 years ofbeing able to limit our regrets. And yes I still have some. But the folks in Oklahoma, they didn’t get that. They were just gone. This film gives us the story of losing a twin, we don’t know why or how but that it was unexpected. The lead character is turning 30 and is lost in grief.I’ve been there. I spoke to my mom almost daily. One does that when you know your time is limited. But still, the whole left behind can be all encompassing. This film shows us Anna’s path out of this all encompassing whole of grief with humor and compassion.
